WHY SHOULD I GET INVOLVED IN THE LORD'S WORK AT CANYON VIEW CHURCH OF CHRIST?
Christians have the indwelling Holy Spirit, 2 Corinthians 1:21-22;
"21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand
firm in Christ. He annointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and
put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." (NIV) [And see 1
John 2:20 and 27]
Christians receive the gift of the Holy Spirit after becoming Christians.
In Acts 2:38, Peter replied: "Repent and be baptized,
every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (NIV)
Each Christian has a gift. However, each Christian has different gift of
the Holy Spirit. The key purpose of gifts of the Holy Spirit is to aid the
body of Christ in successfully functioning as one body.
1 Corinthians 12:19-20: "19 If they were all
one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but
one body." (NIV) and
1 Corinthians 14:12, "So it is with you. Since you are eager to have
spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church." (NIV)

No Christian or member of the body [church] can serve in a vacuum or by themselves.
All must be unified in working as different members to up build the body
of Christ as it is actively involved in the mission of Christ to seek to
make disciples, OUTREACH\DISCIPLESHIP-Matthew 28:18-20; actively help the
poor, SERVICE-Galatians 2:10; Christians are the church, the body of Christ
and need to be with a church to actively fellowship and worship collectively,
FAMILY LIFE\WORSHIP-Acts 2:42-47.
This requires committed and faithful Christians to go forward together in
unity to successfully accomplish the Lord's work. There is no life for a
member outside of the body of Christ. No member or "body" part
can survive on it's own without the whole body!
